Andrew earned his PhD in Psychology at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand), and Master’s degrees in Linguistics (M.Litt.) and Business (M.A. Hons) from the University of Glasgow. Prior to entering academia, Andrew worked for the BBC and taught in New Zealand, Latvia, China and Hong Kong, where he discovered a deep passion for education. An accomplished scholar, he has published research on sociolinguistics, accents, and linguistic variations. Most recently, he was a full-time lecturer at the University of York (UK) where he taught courses on the language of advertising and the psychology of language, and served as a first-year coordinator mentoring new students and helping them settle into university life.
