2018 Shunyi Debating Classic

Due to the overwhelming demand on registration, Capstone will be converting the selections day into a one-day tournament. This tournament will allow students to test their debating skills by competing against one another. Students will still be evaluated and scouted to join the Official team during the tournament. Students who successfully qualified to enter the official team will be notified on September 12th and will be invited to enter the official team.

 

We believe that this is the best way to evaluate the skills of our students and determine the final composition of the Official Team. The overall best speaker of the tournament will be guaranteed a spot in the Beijing Official Team.

 

What is the 2018 Shunyi Debating Classic?

Capstone Beijing is proud to announce that we will be hosting the Shunyi Debating Classic. It is a one-day debate tournament packed with challenging and interesting motions. Capstone will also be recruiting students to be a part of Capstone Beijing’s official team during this tournament.

 

 

Who will be judging you?

Shunyi Cup boasts a team of experienced adjudicators who have judged at major tournaments around the world, including the Harvard WSDC invitational, the World Championships and the Asian championships. This group of adjudicators will be led by Archie Hall and Daniel De Bois. They represented Harvard University at the recent world championships where they emerged as world champions.

 

 

What is the Capstone Beijing Official Team?

This team will comprise of top debaters from Capstone Beijing. They will receive tournament subsidies and/or tuition waivers. These students will representing Capstone to prestigious tournaments around the globe such as the Harvard World Schools Invitational Debate Championship, Cambridge Asian Schools Debating Championship, and many others.

Time: 10:00am – 6:00pm

Venue: Capstone Beijing Center

1/Fl Yosemite Club Building, Area C, No. 4 Yuyang Road, Houshayu Town, Shunyi District, Beijing 101302

Debate Format: Asian Parliamentary format (2 speakers per team)

 

 

Fee (per student)

Capstone students 100 RMB

Non-Capstone students

*Former students who withdrew in or after March 2018 will also be considered as Capstone students.

200 RMB
