Following the success of our previous debate and vocabulary tournaments (The 2009 Debate Tournament, 2010 Capstone Debate Classic, the 2011 Spring Vocabulary Competition, and the 2011 Autumn Debate Tournament), the 2012 Capstone Speak for a Cause Competition is a brand new initiative to help channel the passion and capability that we’ve witnessed in countless students thus far. Our intention is to make this a unique and rewarding experience for participants, as they learn to apply their skills toward affecting real change in their community.

As a follow-up to Capstone's US College Seminar in August that overviewed the entire US college application process, we are now presenting the first in a series of focused talks on the specific components of US college admissions. This upcoming seminar on November 23rd will focus on the SAT and ACT exams, the two exams which are now accepted by almost all US universities in fulfillment of their entrance exam requirements.

This autumn's edition of the Capstone Classic has concluded. The tournament this year yielded an unprecedented amount of teams (over 40) debating at an enormously high level well beyond the norm for their age. The teachers and staff here at Capstone could not be more proud of the students' enthusiasm, rigor, confidence, and analysis. Videos and highlights will be available shortly so you all can see the fantastic quality debates of Capstone's students.

Without further ado, we are pleased to announce the winners of the final rounds of the Capstone Classic Autumn 2011 debate tournament:

This is a quick reminder to encourage all participants (whether you made it to Finals or not) to join the Debate Clinic taught by Sam Myat San on Saturday. The two times slots are 4:00 to 6:00PM (for newer and/or younger debaters) and 6:00 to 8:00 PM (for older and/or more experienced debaters). Sam is a former top debater who represented the Singapore national team and the Harvard parliamentary debate team. Currently, he works for the Singapore government but also coaches a number of high school debate teams in Singapore.
