SSAT

Overview

The SSAT course is for students intending to take either the SSAT Lower or Upper level tests in the coming year. It helps students prepare for each area of the test. For the vocabulary and analogies section, the course helps develop a wider range of vocabulary through teaching roots, prefixes and suffixes. For the math sections, instructors teach math fundamentals and properties (and their shortcuts) while exposing students to manipulations of easy math problems that the SSAT uses to trick students. For the reading, students learned a disciplined process of summarizing information and knowing when to look closer and when to focus on the general passage. The entire course is 24 – 28 hours long (depending on the class format) and we encourage students to start as soon as possible if they are considering the SSAT because the vocabulary lessons are effective but students need as much time as possible to learn more words.
