Capstone's Advanced English courses are demanding courses designed to challenge students who already have substantial writing, speaking or literary analysis abilities but want to develop these skills more by working alongside other talented students under the guidance of passionate instructors who collectively push the group to improve.  Currently, our range of courses within the Advanced English section includes Academic Writing, Debate & Analysis, English Literature and Vocab & Reading (also a program within the Test Prep section).

Within each program, we focus on both the short-term and long-term needs of students.  Tangible skills like writing style, speaking poise, and literary devices allow students to immediately excel in their school-related tasks.  For the long-term, our instructors focus on developing students' critical thinking, encouraging students to contemplate concepts in literature and society that helps them to frame information better, analyze deeper, and respond more thoroughly to progressively mature topics.   It is that critical thinking ability we aim to nurture that most allows a student to become both a successful student and individual in the future.  Many parents specifically choose Capstone for their children's English needs because of our strength in pushing students to process and review increasingly challenging content.

As the courses at Capstone are rigorous and we want to ensure that students are placed in the class best suited to their ability, all new students are required to take an assessment. Students are also constantly monitored to ensure that they are situated in the correct class with the right mix of students. We can assure parents that no other course provides intensity of English training provided here. Our pool of English students come from nearly every top local and international school in Hong Kong, and among our students include champions and award winners in writing, debate and public speaking competitions.
